Recruiters and solicitors form ‘HR business academy’

01/02/2018

TeamJobs and Steele Raymond LLP have launched an ‘academy’ for HR and business leaders.

The recruitment specialist and law firm say the aim of Connect HR is to educate, inform – and ultimately encourage businesses to work more effectively together.

Sally Bennett, Executive Manager of Poole and Bournemouth-based TeamJobs, a former DCCI Company of the Year, explained: “We’re very excited to launch this new project with Steele Raymond, which we hope will bring a host of benefits to businesses across the area.”

She continued: “Connect HR encompasses the Connect HR Forum and the Connect HR Academy.

“The Connect HR Forum is an inclusive meeting place where human resources professionals and business leaders can discuss the hot topics affecting business, from mental health and harassment to data protection.

“The Connect HR Academy, as its name suggests, is about education; enabling delegates to drill down on these major issues, to gain insight from high profile speakers and invest in theirs and their company’s Continuous Professional Development.”

TeamJobs has been running a smaller scale Human Resources Forum with Steele Raymond for 18 months.

Peter Rolph, Managing Partner at Steele Raymond, said Connect HR will take their association to: “the next level”.

“The forums have allowed HR professionals to make valuable associations and share best practice and experience,” he said.

“Connect HR will allow us us to widen our offering to, not only include business leaders, but by also address the key issues affecting our businesses every day.

“Partnering with TeamJobs on the HR Forum has produced one of our most exciting projects and we are very much looking forward to seeing how Connect HR can help us all to grow our businesses.”

Around 40 delegates attended the inaugural Connect HR Academy (on Thursday, January 25, 2018), at Steele Raymond’s Bournemouth office client suite, where Steele Raymond Chairman Tim Stone and Managing Partner Peter Rolph addressed the core issues of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force on May 25, 2018 and their practical implications for businesses.

Delegate Dan Buckley, a marketing executive for AFC Bournemouth, said:

“I found the Connect HR Forum extremely helpful in unravelling some of the many issues surrounding GDPR and the practical steps we all need to take to comply. I also liked the informal atmosphere and the fact that it was so interactive. I think it will prove a really good way of meeting and sharing advice and experience with other businesses.”

All delegates must pre-register for future Connect HR Forums. For more information contact Lee Taylor on 01202 294 566.
